TASK 1 - SCRIPT ANALYSIS

ALIEN SCRIPT

GAME OF THRONES SCRIPT

MARTIN'S (PEER) ALIEN SCRIPT

SUMMARY

He presents his analysis in a clear way by clearly colour coding his script so people know what colour refers to what when he explains an extract from the script. He analyses the genre and conventions of the Alien script very well as he only highlights the parts which associate with the SCI-FI genre themes. For example he highlights "Data mind bank b.g" as this technology is completely fiction and revolves around the SCI-FI genre. However, he doesn't explain a lot of the conventions he highlights.

He highlights and explains the content side of the Alien script to a very good extent as he writes about why the writer wrote a certain extract content-wise and what effect it has on the audience as well as the actors performing.

He could of done more to do with the narrative structure of the first thirteen pages of the Alien script as he only writes about how the plot line goes at the end of the script instead of explaining individual parts in the middle of the script. However, he does explain the narrative structure well overall for the script as he goes in-depth about whether its a linear or multi-linear plot along with influences within the plot.

With the target audience, he could of highlighted examples of the target audience throughout the script rather than outright explaining the target audience at the end of the analysis; he does explain it in detail though with mentions to what type of genre the film is and how it will attract its audience along with a secondary audience.

He analyses the script format to a good extent as he uses multiple examples throughout the whole script with detailed explanations next to it.
